OCRForge reads text out of images and scanned PDFs without a single network request. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch models are bundled in the installer, and you can tick several at once for mixed-language documents. Results arrive as editable text with a confidence score and a word-box overlay coloured green, amber or red so you can see at a glance where the recognition is shaky — hover to read a word, click to copy it. When a scan is difficult, the preprocessing panel makes the difference: rotate, grayscale, invert, upscale 2x, adjust brightness and contrast, or binarize with automatic Otsu thresholding, all with a live preview and applied across the whole batch. Export as plain text, JSON with every word box and confidence, hOCR, or a searchable PDF with an invisible text layer positioned exactly over each word.
